If you've purchased a device, and a data plan from Travel Data, then your device will arrive active, and ready to use right out of the box. Please read the label affixed to the device packaging for the wifi network name, and password to connect.

Bring Your Own Device Users:

If your device fails to get connected to LTE after an activation, you can try the two methods below:

1. Turn your hotspot off and leave it powered down for about 1 minute. When you turn it back on, wait approximately 5 minutes for the device to auto-connect to LTE service. If it fails to get connected try the below;

2. Factory Reset your device. Each manufacturer has a different procedure for performing the factory reset. Consult your device manual for the steps to perform a factory reset. Factory Resetting is the best method to get connected as this forces your device to download new information from the network.

If you have purchased your device from Travel Data - Please contact us for troubleshooting steps. Please do not factory reset your device.

Common Error Messages

Sim Card Not Detected

If your device is not detecting a sim card, you can try the following steps at this link:

Sim Card Not Registered

Sim Card Not Registered is indicative of a no cellular signal message, and not a message indicating we have not activated your sim card. Rest assured, your sim card is fully active, and service will begin working as soon as you're in a stronger coverage area.

You may verify this by clicking the AT Command link at the bottom of the T-Mobile/3G/4G Modem box area, then from the shortcut drop-down, select the Request Network Information option and then press the send button. You will now see a 'No Service' message.

If you do not see a 'No Service' message, but instead see a message with the letters 'WCDMA', then your device is connected to 3G signal, because the 4G or 5G signal in the area is too weak. Try a new location to get connected.

To locate an area near with better coverage, you can view the detailed map here: https://maps.t-mobile.com/

Powercycle your device, and try set up again.
